The Big DayMarch 1st, 2012
The big day is here.

My recent thoughts.

To be a slave of any kind is a condition that no one should be happy and contented to be in it is akin to being poor. Modern day slavery takes on many forms and shapes, from addictions to alcohol, drugs, money to political ideology and religion. I admit that I was once in the vice-like grip fetters of partying and drinking with occasionally church attendances on Sundays. The object of whichever from slavery takes on is to hinder the moral, intellectual and human faculties of the slave the ability to make useful choices.
Since I resolved to be only drinking on certain occasions and not every evening as was my habit back then, I have found that I have much time on my hand to do much productive work as opposed to drinking and dancing, presently my evenings if not spent in class are usually spent in the house enjoying the serenity that accompanies a game of chess and music wafting in the background. I had a passionate love for football back then, (I always created time to watch Arsenal and Gor Mahia’s games) but today, my conscience and conviction in relation to God and politics are much stronger and firm as relaxing in the house means less arguments.
I am not fully free because I still struggle under the yoke of perennial want, money is scarce and hard to come by, I am no longer active in political scheming and organizing which renders my financial situation exceedingly dire. But some things are worth the sacrifices, in exchange for renouncing my former lifestyle, I get to have no jibes thrown at me and my privacy is always guaranteed. I completely stopped attending church when I found out that the gospel of discrimination was much engrained, adopted and praised at the expense of the message of love.
I am free from football slavery, alcohol bondage and “belonging” problem. Money and finances, these are requisites of a near comfortable life in this world. I have hope (and I am working on it) that I will soon break free of the dehumanizing effects of lack and want and proclaim freedom at last!
