THE PATH OF LIFE.

The Big DayMarch 1st, 2012
The big day is here.

My recent thoughts.

The contest for the presidency of the United States is being billed as close to call as Americans go to the polls on 6th November, 2012. The two main contenders to the throne, Barack Hussein Obama and Mitt Willard Romney have definitely given each other sleepless nights, engaging in Kilkenny catfights. The world is keenly watching and waiting to see who will be elected, whether it will be Obama-Biden, Romney-Ryan or in the worst case scenario, Romney-Biden! I have to make my choice, albeit an inconsequential one.  I vouch for Obama-Biden for the following reasons;

1.       Nationality – Obama is an American born American who is eligible to vie for and hold the office of the president of America.

2.       Kenyanism- He is not a Kenyan politician, thus he is a reliable human being and a safe pair of hands.

3.       He is for the welfare and wellbeing of the 100 percent of Americans, not just 47 percent.

4.       He had the cojones to order the taking out of Osama.

5.       Economy – His handling of the economic crisis is commendable, he managed to keep American banks and automakers afloat when the same couldn’t be done in Europe.

6.       Healthcare- Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) alias Obamacare or Romneycare, although termed as expensive managed to bring more than 40 million Americans on the fold for medical insurance, a feat unmatched anywhere else. Despite threats by some to repeal it, even SCOTUS, including Chief Justice Roberts, concurs on the merits of the Act. while his opponent has promised to repeal it.

7.       Foreign policy – Iran-Israel-Palestine- He is the voice of reason in the midst of bomb them, colonize them hubbub.

8.       He is for the maintenance of Roe-v-Wade.

9.       He listens to Bob Dylan.

10.   He likes Malcolm X. He admitted that Malcolm X was one of the biggest influences in his intellectual and cultural development.

11.   He is inclusive – He appointed his rival Hillary Clinton and republican Robert Gates to his cabinet.

12.   He pays his taxes, and shows proof by showing the tax records.

13.   He knows that rape is rape and despicable, final. He does not seek to redefine it according to religion.

14.   Sufficiently philanthropic- He donated his $1.4 million in Nobel Peace Prize money to charity.

15.   He cares about the environment.

16.   His handling of the Hurricane Sandy compare and contrast the post Katrina presidential attention.
